How does the Energy move?

Hello, today (Dec 5th, 2023) is day two of homeschool here at Merin Academy.

The lesson was an introduction to chakras and energy systems. But as we talked about balance and flow, the real question quietly rose from the pages of my own journal and asked me directly: “How does my energy affect those around me?”

I see myself as a positive being. I put my best effort into making sure I’m balanced enough so that the energy I push out is better than the energy I’m receiving. I aim to compost my emotional waste into something that can nourish growth. It’s about processing my own stress, fatigue, or doubt internally, through journaling, a walk in the trees, or a quiet moment, so that what radiates out isn’t reactive noise, but considered warmth and grace.

It’s the most personal form of sustainability I know; managing my inner resources so I don’t become toxic runoff into the emotional ecosystems of my home and the community around me.

The practice then took a turn that felt just as vital. If we are to be stewards of our own energy, we must first be intimate friends with its source. So, we wrote down three things we love about ourselves; not for the ego, but as gratitude for the vessel.

3 things I love about myself:

– My goals and dreams are a great way to help those in need. They are not just for me; they are blueprints for service, rooted in the belief that a free life is one lived in connection and giving back to my environment.

– I am a beautiful being. This is a statement of fact, not pride. There is beauty within my spirit, my hands, and my eyes. Recognizing this is an act of honoring life itself.

– My hair flourishes in the summer. I love this one for its very specific. It expresses my body’s natural, joyful response to the sun and the season. It is a small, perfect symbol of thriving in my own element.

This is what “alternative living” means to me. It’s not just about where you live or how you power your home. It’s about choosing the curriculum for your own growth. It’s about auditing your energy footprint with the same seriousness as your waste. And it’s about understanding that the most sustainable world is built by people who have learned to cultivate their inner landscape; people who know that to live a free life, you must first free yourself from the patterns that drain you and dim your light.

Day two at Merin Academy taught me that before we can heal any system, we must learn to tend to our own. The lesson wasn’t in the book; it was in the question, and in the loving answer that followed.

What’s one thing you love about the energy you bring? And one way you transmute your energy to be a cleaner source? Share in the comments.
