Meraki – Doing something with Soul, Creativity, and Love

Hey everyone, Jade here 👋🏾. Recently, I took the plunge and purchased a cute pottery wheel from VEVOR, and it has definitely been a game-changer. Opting for a 10 inch green starter wheel, I embarked on this journey with excitement and anticipation. Ceramics had always been on my radar, but it wasn’t until this past year that I finally took the leap.

Equipped with my trusty pottery wheel, 10 pounds of clay, and an assortment of shaping tools, sponges, and a bucket. I set up my own little ceramics studio at home. While currently I do not have a pottery studio nearby, I am determined to make the most of what I have and teach myself along the way.

One of the things I love most about my pottery wheel is its versatility. Whether I want to manually power it or set it to a specific speed, it adapts to my needs and gives me the flexibility to experiment with different techniques and push the boundaries of my creativity. Plus, it’s big but also small enough to take on road trips so If i want to hang out in the woods or in the city and create artwork, I can.

As I dove deeper into the world of ceramics, I stumbled upon the concept of Meraki Ceramics. Meraki, a Greek word, meaning to do something with Soul, Creativity, and Love. It perfectly encapsulates the essence of what I strive to achieve with each piece I create – Infusing it with a piece of myself. There is something therapeutic about working with my hands and seeing raw clay transform into a beautiful art piece before my eyes. But beyond the tangible results, it’s the journey itself that brings me joy. The endless possibilities, the occasional mishaps, and the mastery of the craft – Each step of the way is a learning experience, shaping not only the clay but also my growth as an artist.

So here’s to the journey of discovering self, to embracing the unknown, and to creating with Meraki Ceramics. Whether you’re a seasoned ceramicist or a curious beginner like me, I invite you to join me on this adventure as we explore the boundless world of clay together.
