Hello earthlings,
(Dec 26th 2023) Today began with a rough start. You know those risings where your body is full of aches before you even had your tea? That was me. A deep, full body soreness that made moving a conscious effort. And yet my spirit felt light. It’s a strange but beautiful contrast. Feeling truly good even when your physical self is protesting. It’s a reminder that well being isn’t just one thing. You can nurture a peaceful mind even on a sore day.
Our learning rhythm is gentle right now. With much of the world on a holiday pause before their new year begins, we’re flowing with simple day to day lessons. Our next big, delicious project is on the horizon. Kitchen Safety and Baking Cookies. I can’t think of a more perfect or tasty way to blend practical life skills with joy.
In my own little world of creativity, a new obsession was born today. I drew a sword. It felt powerful and graceful all at once. Sometimes the simplest creative sparks bring the most satisfaction.

But my mind isn’t just on cookies and swords. It’s also wandering across a big, beautiful map. We have been deep in geography, but with a very personal twist. Actively exploring options for moving abroad in the near future. We even took a family poll and right now, Thailand is in the lead. The thought fills me with pure excitement. The vibrant food, the art culture, the sense of freedom and new experience. It feels like a calling towards a chapter full of color, discovery, and adventure.
Finally as our day winds down, we are reflecting on the first principle of Kwanzaa. Umoja, which means Unity. On this first day, we are focusing on the unity of family, community, nation, and race. The unity in our little homeschool (Merin Academy), and the hope of finding unity within a new community across the globe. It’s a beautiful, grounding principle to carry into the evening.

Sending love and light for the First of Fruits.
Do you have a recent spark that brought you joy lately ? I’d love to know, share in the comments.
